Love the Skin You’re In!

The skin you have now is the only skin you are ever going to get! It is so important to take good care of your skin and love the skin you’re in! There are so many different types of skin and skincare products. Here are our top eight skincare tips and tricks to help you achieve your skincare dreams and appreciate the skin you have!

1. Wear Sunscreen!

Sunscreen is one of – if not the – most important skincare steps! If anything, you should be wearing sunscreen every single day, even if you aren’t outside for long periods. Wearing sunscreen helps protect your skin from aging and any UV damage that could cause skin cancer.

Apply sunscreen to your ears, hairline, hands, neck, and chest every day!

2. Use a Retinoid

After sunscreen, the next most important skincare product is a retinoid or retinol. This is a vitamin A derivative that treats acne, dark spots and helps prevent aging. Retinoids cause your skin cells to divide more rapidly, which builds up the protective layer of your skin.

Applying a small pea-sized amount of retinoid every evening after washing your face is beneficial to help with aging! If you have sensitive skin – use a retinoid every 2-3 nights instead of every night to help prevent irritation.

3. Remove Your Makeup Every Day

Effectively removing your makeup every night is one of the best ways to love your skin. Removing your makeup at night instead of sleeping in it is one of the best ways to promote healthy skin for years to come. Sleeping with your makeup on can cause more skincare issues than it is worth.

4. Don’t Forget About Your Neck and Chest

Even if you have a great skincare routine, your neck and chest can be neglected. It is important to treat your neck as an extension of your face to help prevent aging. Extend your cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen to your neck to help prevent premature signs of aging and wrinkles.

Your neck and chest are likely to be the first culprit that gives away your age, so show some adoration to these areas!

5. Less is More

There are many skincare routines and products that have many steps or ingredients. Layering on too many products can cause skin irritation and be worse on your skin. Using products with fewer additives and using fewer products can be more effective and loving towards your skin.

6. Exfoliate!

Exfoliate your face and body a couple of times a week! Exfoliation helps remove dead skin cells and causes your body to radiate. It helps remove excess oil and stop your pores from clogging. Choose a pH-neutral product that won’t strip your skin.

7. Stop Touching Your Face

This is a hard one! One of the best ways to appreciate your skin and take care of it is to stop touching your face. Touching your face can spread bacteria and cause breakouts as well as lead to scarring and increase wrinkles. Picking at your skin and touching your face can be one of the biggest causes of your breakouts.

8. Hydrate!

You probably hear this one all the time but staying hydrated – by drinking water and using moisturizer – is a great way to love your skin! Drinking enough water for your weight and using the right kind of moisturizer for your skin can help your skin health in many ways.
